The State Chairman's Welcome
As we come together today in the time of the MRP State convention, we have done what we were expected to do. We have driven long distances, we have chosen our leadership, made our campaign speeches, and we have shown ourselves to the party leadership as we should have. We have done what’s expected, as has happened every other year. It’s not enough. It simply isn’t enough. No one here by looking at this group can fully see what has happened to the Federation in this past year. I stand before you as a chairman of what was once a great organization... that is now in a state of emergency. Chapters are smaller than ever, we lack most of what we need to rebuild the organization, and the communication between the chapters is weak. However, I swear to you, that the determination of the MFTARS leadership has never been stronger, the resolve of the remaining chapters has never been so sincere, and the bonds that we share as Republicans has never been so evident.
Because of this, I don’t need to tell you why we need to stay on task. I don’t need to tell you that we are a part of a movement that America has never seen before, and I don’t need to tell you how hard it will be to fix the damage that has been done. You know this. We face a long road ahead of us, one that will take hard work, and a new sense of thought. This is why, now more than ever, we cannot do just what is expected of us. We must fight harder, and we must fight stronger, or else we face the risk of more than loosing chapters, but we face loosing the base that may one day save the values that have driven this nation to be the shining city on a hill that Ronald Reagan spoke so dearly about. The liberals will win. Every year, we hear about more schools banning religious works from their halls, we hear about more liberal judges legislating from the bench, we see family values becoming threatened by those who want to take this sacred institution, and change it into something it is not. And every year, we hear more and more about things happening in our nation as to what happened to our fellow Republicans at the MSU law college. We cannot and will not stand for that, and we must rebuild the Federation in order to secure our future.
In order to do this, we must reorganize the Federation into something new, and something that will stand the test of time. Whatever that may be, I am not sure. Plans have been introduced from Livingston, Oakland and St Clair. However, I will work with Vice Chairman Christopher Kulesza and the rest of the Executive Board closely in order to ensure that we do what is best.
You, the determined members of the TARS, will make this organization what it is meant to be. And it is you that will ensure us the victory that we so desire this November.
